Who we are
Joy in Health (JiH) is a Community interest Company based in Leicester, United Kingdom. We are committed to creating awareness about better health and health care for all,
mostly Black and Asian Minority Ethnic Communities in the UK. The organisations aims to facilitate becoming a healthier population by advocating for high-quality health care that can be equitably accessed.

We believe good health and health care are key to a flourishing society. By sharing what we learn, collaborating with others, and building people’s skills and knowledge, we aim to make a difference and contribute to a healthier community.
Our Team
Joy Chinwe Aguguo
-Project Manager
Joy is a long-time health advocate and has worked in the health sector for over ten years. She believes passionately that we are all ultimately responsible for our health outcomes through what we do, consume and the environment we live in. She now supports and works with other like-minded people and partners to help most people from BAME communities live healthy productive lives.
Lady Uzoma
-Treasurer
Lady Uzoma is a registered nurse and likes to support women in achieving good health outcomes for themselves, their close families, and friends. Her simple motto is “a healthy person is a happy person.”
Callistus Duru
-Secretary
Callistus is a passionate individual who believes in “Health First!” He is a health advocate, and has been promoting good health and healthy living for several years now. He wants everyone to live healthy productive lives, which is why he accepted to join the Joy in Health advocacy campaign.

FAQs
Our objectives are to carry out activities that benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) to:
- People especially, from the Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities, including particular people with mental health issues, high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, chronic liver disease, sickle cell anemia, cancers, and other diseases; their families, friends, and supporters, who mostly lack information on how to manage common diseases; and practitioners in health and social care.
- The provision of information and opportunities for learning about health and wellbeing.
- The promotion of health and wellbeing-oriented services and activities.
- The opposition to stigma and discrimination around mental health issues.
- The advocating and campaigning to reduce or mitigate the effects of climate change on our health and well-being.
- Physical exercise and sports-related activities.
